5:30 p.m. The Virginia Cooperative Extension is hosting a gardening mini-series Planning Your Fall Garden at the Shenandoah Community Garden 505 Williams Avenue, Shenandoah, VA 22849.  The end of summer doesn’t have to mean the end of fresh produce.  Join us to plan your fall garden.

August 18 Shenandoah

6:30 p.m.  The Virginia Cooperative Extension is hosting a Spotted Lanternfly Information Session at the Town of Shenandoah Museum and Welcome Center 507 First Street, Shenandoah, VA 22849.  This session is designed to equip homeowners, farmers and other organizations in the county with the information they need to help manage this invasive insect.

Discovery Hike 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  Big Gem Park (736 Fourth Street, Shenandoah, VA 22849).  Join retired Shenandoah National Park Ranger-Naturalist Mara Meisel on the 1 mile loop Clinton Lucas, Jr Trail to see what flora and fauna are located on the trail.  Wear sturdy shoes as the trail is rocky and uneven with an elevation gain of about 100 feet.  Bring binoculars, sunscreen, and bug spray.  No pets please.

July 30-Shenandoah

Memorial Walk (new event) Big Gem Park (736 Fourth Street, Shenandoah, VA 22849). Come and take a solemn hike on the Clinton Lucas Trail and remember the 25 soldiers who have been honored at the Town’s past Memorial Festivals  2:00 p.m.
